ICDC is a non-profit organization, established on February 2, 1953. Its
purpose is to enhance the quality of life for its citizens through
industry,
business, education, agriculture, recreation, tourism, and unity among its
citizens. ICDC's program of work is carried out by our volunteers working
through our committee system.
MISSION: The mission of the Itawamba County
Development Council is to improve and enhance the quality of life for all citizens
and promote orderly business and economic development in Itawamba County.
Current Committees include:
Education- Education determines the future of any community. ICDC’s
education committee works to facilitate and enhance our public schools through public/private
partnerships and innovative solutions.
Healthcare- Medical care in rural America is increasingly becoming
extinct. That’s why in 1995 the ICDC worked with city and county officials
to coordinate and eventually retain the services of The Gilmore Medical Group in
an effort to ensure that proper medical care would be provided to the residents
of our county. Today we continue to promote advancement in the services offered
to Itawambians including researching the mounting costs of healthcare insurance.
Industrial Recruitment- This committee, along with support staff, works
to market and recruit business and industry for Itawamba County. The businesses
which we locate provide jobs for our neighbors and tax revenues for our schools.
Industrial Relations- This committee supports our county’s existing
industry. They seek to address and provide our manufacturers with a business
climate that is conducive to running a successful business.
Small Business Development- The ICDC has designated staff members who work
with our local business owners on issues of interest such as: retail promotions,
business roundtable, marketing, tourism, and much more! We are always seeking
to improve our services for the businesses of Itawamba County!
Social/Public Safety- Members of our community were addressing concerns,
and the ICDC listened. This committee works in the areas of social well-being
and public safety including, but not limited to, issues such as teen pregnancy and
litter.
ICDC welcomes your committee suggestions and your participation. If you would
like additional information, please contact the ICDC at 862-4571.
